Data strategy

A strategy you can act on within weeks.

Five fixed-scope sprints. Each one ends with something you can use and a decision about whether to carry on.

  • A prioritised roadmap tied to business outcomes
  • An operating model that names who owns what
  • A tooling direction with the reasoning written down
  • A change and communications plan
  • A recommended next step
Who it is for
Boards and executive teams who need a read on data maturity before committing budget; heads of data and CDOs who need a plan to mobilise against; mid-market and not-for-profit leaders with no data function yet.

Five sprint shapes

Each has a fixed fee and ends with a deliverable and a recommended next step. They stack, and you can stop after any of them.

1 week

Exploratory audit

A maturity heatmap across the eight pillars, a one-page strategy direction, the top five quick wins and a recommended next step.

2 weeks

Discovery

A strategy playbook tailored to you, a strategy on a page, a maturity baseline with an eighteen-month target, a tooling shortlist and a scoped next sprint.

6 weeks

Foundations

Reference architecture and tooling decisions, operating model and RACI, a use-case portfolio and value tree, working standards, an AI governance design, and a change plan.

8 weeks

Foundations plus pilot

Everything in the foundations sprint, plus one pilot data product built and live and a second scoped.

12 weeks

Strategy and MVP

Strategy, foundations, an MVP platform with catalogue and access workflow, a pilot product in production, one AI use case with responsible AI controls, and an adoption launch.

Five engagement sprints in order of length: one-week exploratory audit, two-week discovery, six-week foundations, eight-week foundations plus pilot, twelve-week strategy and MVP.
The five sprints, and how each one feeds the next.

The eight pillars

Every assessment, roadmap and design uses the same eight-pillar model, so a score in week one is comparable in month twelve. Pillars one to three need to mature before four to eight will scale.

  1. Foundations. Governance, quality, risk, ethics, privacy
  2. Management. Architecture, lifecycle, tooling
  3. Discoverability. Catalogue, search, marketplace, access
  4. Data products. Domains, ownership, self-serve
  5. Analytics. BI, semantic layer, decision support
  6. AI and responsible AI. MLOps, GenAI, ISO 42001, EU AI Act
  7. People. Literacy, community, skills, change
  8. Value. Use cases, benefits, monetisation, OKRs
